Halfway Through Galactic Season 11

As soon as I came up with that post title, I felt the urge to double-check: are we actually halfway through the season already? The answer is "not quite" - it started in August and runs until February, so the actual mid point will be at some point in November, but we're getting close. Personally I also always tend to think of the halfway point as when I complete the basic seasonal track, as it usually takes me about the same amount of time again to also complete any remaining meta achievements.

As I did hit level 100 last week, I thought I'd do a quick review of where I'm at. I'm sad to say that the season has largely panned out as I expected: I didn't love Season 10 and knew that 11 would be more of the same, and so it has been. All those objectives requiring you to do stuff with one of the seasonal companions out just doesn't mesh well with my play style, and I'm very glad that I decided to no longer do the same thing on the other servers this time. I've still spent some time playing there, but not specifically to earn season points. Actually seeing the credit catch-up button for the first time since GS2 has been weird.

Looking at the fact that the season ends in February got me thinking though: I sure hope the devs aren't planning to delay the release of Masters of the Force until then! I mean, if they need more time then they need more time, but I was really hoping to see 8.0 this side of Christmas. Mind you, the season end date doesn't fully rule this out either; it would just mean that if MotF launches in, say, December, the first few months of the new era will overlap with the tail end of the current season, and the timing would then work out for us to get Galactic Season 12 alongside 8.0.1 in March or so. Look at me, 8.0 isn't even out yet and here I'm already thinking about the first patch after that!

But hey, I've got to admit I'm quite keen on seeing some new content at this point. Galactic Seasons are alright as a way to keep busy, but the last proper content patch was in June now, and I think if Broadsword is still planning to release Masters of the Force this year, it's about time to give us the final bits of info and the intended launch date.

  1. I recently started replaying to see the end of LoTS. The new mounts that let you ride around with your companion in tow were a pleasant surprise, I'm pretty excited to get through the season just to snag more one of those.

Now, if they would just retrofit that feature on all the older two seaters, and two-seat taxi cabs.

  2. Since the meta-achievement requires 130 weeklies this season, I am pretty sure they are going to miss December. I am expecting them to announce this in November, but they will try to counteract the negative news with the good news that Ryloth dailies/dynamic encounters are being added to PTS. Since they take vacation off for half of January, I think release window is late January to late February.

    1. Like I said in the post, I don't think the season running into February precludes MotF still launching this year. Not getting the next season until 8.0.1 would actually align with their normal schedule for Galactic Seasons. It would just feel a bit odd to have a "cross-era" season I guess.
