You don't actually get more points from it, but it means you get the same amount of points in a shorter amount of time, which can be essential when the two teams' scores are almost equal and you need to pull ahead quickly to win. Even when that's not the case though, a node buffed with orange will deplete itself faster, so you can then move on and help with fighting somewhere else.
